The credit for excess social security or railroad retirement tax Withhold is a refundable credit. If you work for more than one employer during the year, each employer is required to withhold social security or RRTA taxes up to the maximum for that year. However, if you have withheld from your pay more than the annual maximum you may receive a refund on the excess amount. The amount of wages subject to Social Security in 2006 is $94,200. This credit is taken on line 67 of the 1040.
